About
What attracts me to create paintings and prints is its openness to experimentation. The objective qualities of paint is more fluid compared to the solidness of printing, so combining these crosses both boundaries that allow my work to have bold features. I typically draw upon inspirations from the relationship between feminism and the portrayal of the gendered body.
Though I work predominantly in oil paints, pencil, and printing, I use a combination of materials to convey an energy through colour and shapes to influence my work and the relationship it has on my view of bodily forms. I therefore mostly explore themes revolving around feminism, nature and the expectations in our society. This could be appearance, how we behave or interact with the environment around us. I explore how people are portrayed in modern media compared to pre-technology, which gives me an insight to the change in objectifying and societal roles. The scale that I work on purposely reaches to ‘poster size’ of at most A1, which allows the viewer to be drawn in and appreciate the detail. The point of a poster is to capture attention, whether that is advertising, public engagement or activism, so fuelling a political theme behind the colours and patterns captures a wide range of audience that may not be found in a gallery. Therefore, I intend to communicate to the on-looker that it's not just about a pleasing image, it's about what you feel and interpret when observing to relate to your personal experiences in life.

Within my art, I find ways to connect myself and my values even if this is subtly immersed. This could be my outlook on how women need to be presented better in media or the problems on environmental decay. Commenting on societal issues allows me authority to spread a message- like my series 'Permanent Marks'. I align myself strongly with feminism, so putting out work that reflects this gives me a sense of control in an open manner. Despite this, my work varies greatly from project to project. Because of the outcomes, my practise doesn't follow a certain type or theme, but mainly follows a two dimensional clear and clean finish.
